Samba Wood

Sambawood is a true brown colored wood with a very pleasant
appearance.  It has a soft grain with a fairly uniform medium
brown color.  The wood is stable and has a medium hardness of
approximately 2000 lbs/sq" on the Janka scale.

Janka is a test that measure the hardness of a wood.  The test
measures the force required to push a steel ball with a diameter
of 11.28 millimeters (0.444 inches) into the wood to a depth of
half the ball's diameter, thereby giving an idea of it's durability.

Samba Wood Character Grade

Sambawood "Character" Grade an interesting mixture of the
medium/dark brown heartwood and the light colored subwood.  
This grade allows minor defects such as small tight knots, etc.
Sambawood is a medium hard and stable wood.
